Just saw your comment on my feminist poster. I agree with you about the origins of feminism having a lot of negative aspects. It was purely reactionary in nature, like racism, homophobia, etc. It was a reaction rooted in centuries and suppression and demonization of everything "femininity" stood for. So, naturally, it was angry and filled with contempt toward men. The early feminist solution to promoting women's rights was not the promotion of femininity, it was the advocation of women turning into men! This was a terrible way to go about establishing equality and it is a topic I hit upon in the blog I wrote about suicide.

With that said, I think the feminism of today is much more centered around embracing femininity as something to be valued, not it's transformation into masculinity. In other words, the feminism of today, the form which I embrace, is not anti-male, nor is it concerned with the masculinization of women. It is more about finding the value in femininity, accepting those traits, so that women can be fully empowered members of our society without having to try to act like men in order to do it.
