Fake news, eh. Hmm. Columbus is considered persona non grata nowadays by woke folk, Rod. Celebrating Columbus Day is considered a no-no by them, as they believe that he ushered in the the age of vi*lent ab*se of indigenous peoples, the launch of the transatlantic sl*ve trade, and the introduction of a swath of lethal diseases to an unprepared continent. The holiday is seen as a celebration of colonialism, and is offensive to the continent's indigenous people. Some claim Columbus was a brut*l viceroy and governor of the territories under his contr*l. Other than that, those folks think he was swell, that he was a delightful goomba. Capisce?

Rod, the Vikings preceded Columbus by a lot more than a few years. Scientists say that an ancient solar storm which took place in 992 A.D. and some wooden remains from an old Nordic village prove that Christopher Columbus was not the first non-Indigenous person in North America. These new findings show that Vikings landed on the continent about 1,000 years ago, i.e., more than 450 years before Columbus did in 1492, which is the year when Columbus sailed the ocean blue. The Puritans arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620.

The Vikings preceded them by a few years I think, and if you believe the migratory scuttlebutt, the Redskins came over from Tibet or someplace way back when, before they became Chiefs. Before that, it was just Eagles. And Bears, Lions, Cardinals, & 49ers.
