Here's an example of what I meant. In this 1978 clip, at the 6:30 point, we hear music taken right from a Jon Anderson record. I'm sure that Atlantic Records was never contacted for permission. That could never happen today. (search this website for "tina louise classic dp fuck and orgy 1978")

Thanks for the reply. Here's an example of what I meant. In this 1978 clip, at the 6:30 point, we hear music taken right off a Jon Anderson record. I doubt that Atlantic Records was contacted for permission. Today, that could never happen.

I don't recall much music from mainstream artists being used in the movies I saw in theaters (1980 onward), if any. On the other hand, some "name" musicians might have done so (on the down low) for the cash they received in exchange. So little is known publicly and I can't imagine secrets will be revealed here in America as the nation faces the anti-porn coming Repugnant administration.

Hi, I just subscribed to your excellent YouTube channel. What's your take on mainstream & copyrighted music that was often used in 70s porn film? I've heard artists like Pink Floyd, Jon Anderson, Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream and others. Clearly permission wasn't sought, but probably the artists knew about it anyway. No doubt the fact that the "wise guys" who financed 70s porn were not to be messed with, was a factor. Also, I imagine that big record labels wouldn't want the publicity of going after a porn movie for infringement. A porn film would likely only be around for a few weeks in a handful of theatres, then disappear forever. Or so people would've thought back in the day.
