I hadn't heard from Vernon since we got out of Shady Hollow High School.
That was a while back.
Shady Hollow is about as small a town as you can find, and it's kind of backward.
In fact, most folks around those parts call it Redneck Hollow.
Vernon lived with his mom and dad in a trailer at the end of a long dirt road.
